About Me
Hello! My name is Faith Pickett. I am an artist and student attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. Graduating in 2027 with my B.A. in Art, I am passionate about all forms of creative expression. I specialize in traditional fine art mediums such as painting in oil and acrylic, and graphite drawing. I like to explore concepts of memory and the intimacy of human emotions through a mix of realistic representation and abstracted subjectivity. While developing my style, I enjoy experimenting with color, composition, and materials that challenge me as an artist. I have had the opportunity to utilize 3D mediums outside of traditional visual making such as laser cutting, crochet, sculpture, and mural work.
Throughout my education these projects have opened me up to new perspectives. I have improved my technical skills, as well as historical, visual, and contemporary analysis. I continue to learn from fellow artists and mentors to challenge my creative art making and I hope to gain further experience in commissioned murals and spacial practices.
I have also made an effort to further my experience in digital and graphic design. With various programs and classes catered toward UX/UI design, I have extended my skills in research, DATA collection, user engagement, HTML/JavaScript coding, and Photoshop. I hope to branch out into marketing to assist companies in delivering affective user engagement through an artistic lens.
This portfolio employs the goal of continuing to gain experience and develop my prospects as an artist in a professional setting.
The website showcases some of my work, both solo and collaborative, across different mediums. Listed on the left-hand side is the navigation to move freely between the pages. I organized my website based on my main mediums: Painting, Digital, Drawing, and recent Mural work. Each section has a variety of images showing my exploration within the mediums. The Painting and Drawing sections focus on gallery-type presentation with the ability to scroll freely through the works. My conceptual work may be separated from the technical, and each image can be clicked on to view a more in-depth artist statement alongside preliminary details. Hyperlinks are intertwined within the website as well to give further information. For example my contact information, resume, and CV on this page or links to other websites and projects produced on other sites. Everything will be labeled correctly with reference to all other collaborators, class if applicable, and dates.
